“Freedom to Be” With the Enneagram: Ending Oppression, Cultivating a Liberated World

With Abi Robins & Gabes Torres & Milton C. Stewart & Rev. Nhien Vuong, J.D., M.Div. & Tyler Sit
Hosted by Jessica Dibb

We will not be truly free until all of us are free. We know this, yet there are billions of people on our planet who are not as free as those who are fully “normalized" by dominant culture. The Enneagram can guide an individual to liberate all the oppressed and locked up parts of themselves to live an authentic and fully expressed life. Social Equity Leaders who know the Enneagram are now using its wisdom in powerful and (r)evolutionary ways to address the othering that happens through “isms” such as racism, sexism, colonialism, ageism, and gender expression, sexual orientation, political identity and more.  Join five Evolutionary Leaders in an inspiring, searing, honest, and soulful exploration of this pivotal landscape for humanity to steward. Learn to “see” ways that all of us can be free to create, love, and contribute to a world of interdependent honoring, caring, and support of ALL.

In This Session:

  • Building conscious and liberated community by supporting the evolution of consciousness with the Enneagram
  • Decolonizing the self and relationships: liberating internalized oppression
  • Building resilience through therapeutic approaches to transforming anti-racism and healing intergenerational transmission of trauma
  • Working from the scars of oppression and violence, and riding the waves of awareness about racial injustice in 2020 with the help of the Enneagram
  • How to welcome in all tribes, ending violence, and renewing the whole earth
  • “The Activist's Enneagram” - creating more space for real and meaningful large-scale social change
The views expressed are specific to the author/speaker and may vary from the perspectives of The Shift Network's participants, staff, or other speakers.

Abi Robins

Certified Narrative Enneagram Teacher & Yoga Therapist

Abi Robins (they/them) is a trained Enneagram teacher who studied with Helen Palmer, Marion Gilbert, Peter O’Hanrahan and others through The Narrative Enneagram in Menlo Park, CA. Abi is also a CIAYT yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

Abi’s teaching combines the deep and transformative insight of the Enneagram with the holistic and down-to-earth practices of yoga therapy. Abi seeks to share these two powerful systems, to help people live more fulfilling and meaningful lives by better understanding themselves and those around them.

As a queer, non-binary Enneagram teacher and yoga therapist, Abi also works tirelessly to bring quality teaching in both areas to the queer community. Abi seeks to empower sexual and gender minorities with self-understanding, self-compassion and embodied practices to heal from the trauma inherent in existing on the margins. Abi also hopes to educate other yoga and Enneagram teachers on how to best serve the queer community through their own teaching.

Gabes Torres

Psychotherapist, researcher, and artist
Gabes Torres was born and raised in the Philippines, and is a descendant of the Aeta Indigenous tribes of the Luzon and Mindanao islands. She comes from an ancestral lineage of nomadic healers, musicians & poets, theologians, educators, and revolutionists. Gabes has been active in the work of antiracism and decolonization, particularly in the fields of mental health, education, spirituality, music, and community organizing. She is a racial and migration trauma-informed psychotherapist, and intends to decolonize the therapeutic space by politicizing it — especially since the world of mental health is not excluded from having origins and cultures of white supremacy and racism.

Gabes created and facilitates the Heritage Workshop, a BIPOC only space that explores what it is like to connect with our ancestors through our individual and collective stories, our bodies, and in community with kin and the Earth. She also offers clinical support and care at recovery centers that house survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence.
